I swear my kids are bottomless pits! They can eat and eat and eat, and still demand more! I feel like I’m forever trying to figure out the best snacks to give them that keep them going for longer, while still being healthy.
We were really pleased to try out the Mamia range from Aldi. This award winning 100% organic baby food range starts at just 59p, so it’s really affordable and great for on the go too. And I’ve discovered it definitely isn’t just for babies. Not only does Sienna (1 year old) love the range, but Ella (3 years old) does too. In fact, our hamper of goodies was quickly pounced on by Ella, and she had a fruit pot open and eaten before I had put any of the food away!!
She was also very keen to pose with the hamper. Let’s just ignore the fact she’s in her swimming costume….
One of the places I often find myself having to feed the girls when on days out, is in the car. When they’re out and about and distracted and having fun, they forget those hunger pangs. Yet the second they are in the car, the whining starts. Ella leads the chorus and Sienna follows! Sienna has never really been a big fan of the car either, so having snacks to hand keeps her content. I found the Mamia rice cakes perfect for this. I keep a bag in the change bag and they are the perfect, no mess, in car snack! Plus the girls really like them! In fact, we tend to get through a whole bag in one journey!
Since Ella has started preschool in September, we’ve settled in to a drop-off and pick-up routine on the days I’m not working. I usually have to wake Sienna from her nap last minute, before we head out the door to pick Ella up at midday. As she’s been napping all morning, and it’s pretty much lunchtime, she often has a hungry whinge. The Mamia pouches have been brilliant to keep her happy for the whole pick-up walk. These are suitable from 4 months (though you’d obviously need to squeeze them on to a spoon for younger babies). Sienna is really happy to squeeze them straight in to her mouth. I worried that she’d end up with them all down her, but she’s yet to spill a drop!! She’s a big fan of the apples and strawberries pouch in particular!
The Mamia range also includes fruit pots, that Sienna has enjoyed eating at home. And flavoured spring water. I keep a bottle of this in the change bag for topping up drinks bottles!
And of course, there are the fab Mamia nappies and wipes! The wipes are an absolute on-the-go essential! I can’t imagine a day where a pack of wipes isn’t lurking in my handbag!
Both me and the girls have been super impressed by the Mamia range of food. They will definitely be staples in the change bag, car, home and wherever else needed (EVERYWHERE!!) from now on!
